Cooking Instructions: Measure 2 cups of water into a heavy saucepan (at least 2 quart capacity) and bring to a boil. Add a tablespoon of butter or margarine and a teaspoon of salt, if desired. Stir in 1 cup of rice. Cover the sauce pan. Lower the heat and simmer 45 minutes or until the rice is tender and all the water is absorbed. Makes about 3 cups of fluffy brown rice. Microwave Instructions: Combine 1 cup rice, 2 cups water, 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, and 1 teaspoon salt (optional). Place in a micro-safe dish. Cover and cook on high 5 minutes or until mixture boils. Reduce to 50% power. Cook 30 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Microwaves may vary.
